With that in mind, here are some suggestions that will surely help you become more productive while working from home, especially when you are new to remote work culture.
1. PLAN YOUR WORK SCHEDULE IN ADVANCE
Just because you don’t have to travel for work, shouldn’t mean you can sleep a little extra. Try and convert your travel hours into your planning hours. Invest your time in scheduling your days and activities; keep them time specific, it will help you stay motivated and increase your productivity to complete a certain task within a specific timeframe.
2. MAINTAIN A PRODUCTIVE JOURNAL
Note down your energy, focus and motivation levels every two hours, keep moderating for a week to see when you are at your best. This will help you dedicate that time slot for the most essential tasks of your planner. Try and balance your work hours, do not slip into overtime.
3. STAY CONNECTED
Remote work culture does not mean you can’t stay connected with your office companions. Do as many video conferences as you can, you must not forget those faces you have been looking at for 9 hours a day. Moreover, the more connected you stay with your colleagues, the better workflow remains smooth.
4. TAKE SMALL BREAKS
Taking small breaks is imperative for all of you, you need not skip your breaks. These breaks help you charge up your energy level, a little movement will help you focus better without getting mentally exhausted.
5. DEDICATE A SPACE
Dedicate a space of your home to your work; create a work-station environment. Make sure it is a different place where you usually relax. Work in the same place every day, it helps your brain associate that area with work, so don’t more around much with your laptop. Also, try to set-up your work desk near a window. There are many researches that have shown that exposure to sunlight has positive effects to your mental health & helps you complete tasks more efficiently. More productivity & less stress, so why not!
