Data is the new fuel of business. In the current business scenario, marketers are keen to know how to analyse data for providing better services to the consumers. This course is designed to train marketing students in the use of market intelligence, analytic techniques and research practices for taking day-to-day marketing decisions, and developing and executing marketing strategies.
Data is the new fuel of the business. In the current business scenario, information technology has changed the data collection, analysis and interpretation methods. Now, the organization has access to several qualitative and quantitative data about customers and the market. Hence, marketers are keen to know how to analyse the data for providing better services to the consumers. They want to formulate marketing strategies based on historical data. This course is designed to train marketing students in the use of market intelligence, and analytic techniques and research practices, for taking day-to-day marketing decisions, and developing and executing marketing strategies. Students will also learn to effectively use market intelligence and analytics in the real-world context where corporations need to manage business portfolios, compete with other companies and build relationships with trade partners. Through this experiential learning program, students acquire a critical analysis and decision-making abilities to prepare them to tackle the marketing and business issues they are likely to confront in a career in marketing.

Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV) belongs to the prestigious IIM family of business schools. It is a new generation IIM, set up by the Government of India in September 2015. The Indian Institutes of Management Act 2017 declares IIMs as Institutions of National Importance, empowered to attain standards of global excellence in management, management research and allied areas of knowledge. IIM Visakhapatnam is located in its temporary, but state-of-the-art facility in the salubrious Andhra University campus in the ‘City of Destiny’, Visakhapatnam. The Institute has begun the process for building a permanent, full-fledged, word-class campus on approx. 230 acres of land in the (relative) vicinity of the upcoming green-field international airport, about 25 kilometers from the present (temporary/transit) campus. The first phase of the new facility is expected to be functional by 2021.
Strengths of IIM Visakhapatnam
The campus of the Institute is well-equipped with knowledge resources, teaching-learning aids and facilities. The student hostels are modern and well-furnished, providing excellent board, lodging facilities and amenities conducive to technology-enabled knowledge-pursuit and recreation. With students from about 20 states and union territories of India, the Institute reflects a truly national character.
Taking a significant lead among its contemporaries, the Institute conducted Management Development Programs for the Senior Executives of Central Public-Sector Enterprises and a Faculty Development Program (FDP) for the Management Professors from the Public Universities of AP.
The Institute is partnering with the Mentor in promoting entrepreneurship among the women in the region. Titled as Women Start-up Program 2018, the initiative is nurturing and building entrepreneurial skills in about 25 aspiring women-entrepreneurs, through mentoring, knowledge-support and incubation facilities. The Institute is therefore all set to play an important role in facilitating creative ideas of women, convert into successful innovations.
